About our New Year walking holiday on Menorca
If the festive madness gets a bit much for you, then why not join us for a New Year walking holiday on Menorca. During the week, we enjoy stunning guided walks and partake of fantastic meals, which include a gala supper on New Year’s Eve. The holiday is based from a lovely family run hotel, set right in the heart of a Menorcan village. We even get to experience the parade of the Kings’ Pages on New Year’s Day, when the village comes alive with music and excitement. This holiday is as much a cultural experience, as it is about the walking itself.
The walks
The walking on Menorca is simply stunning. At this time of year, the beaches are empty, the countryside is lush green and the first spring flowers are beginning to emerge. The walks mostly take place next to the sparkling blue Med., although we also get a chance to walk in and amongst the lush ravines and countryside of the island. During the week, we enjoy 5 walks and these are backed up by 2 guides and a recovery vehicle. This vehicle is in case somebody needs a lift along the way. We also always walk to the pace of the slowest in the group. Nobody should feel uncomfortable or over challenged.
Our holiday base
Our New Year walking holiday guests stay at the family run Hotel Loar, in the lovely Menorcan village of Ferreries. The hotel is right in the middle of the village square and amongst its bars, shops and restaurants. The hotel also has its own bar/restaurant and this is where we take breakfast each day. We also enjoy some meals at the hotel, including a gala supper on New Year’s Eve. Take look at the hotel’s own website for more info.
